During the six weeks, I learned a lot about myself. I learned discipline and what it truly takes to develop a new skill. Not every day was easy, and there were times when pushing myself felt uncomfortable. Doing something on my own was scary at first, but in the long run, it became incredibly rewarding. This experience also made me realize that some people in the gym do this for a career, not just for fitness. Seeing their work ethic and dedication every day motivated me to work harder and take my training more seriously. It showed me the level of commitment required to improve and inspired me to hold myself to a higher standard.

What I enjoyed most was meeting new people and having something to look forward to on long days. It gave me a sense of purpose and routine throughout the week. I also really enjoyed learning new kickboxing techniques and seeing my fitness level gradually improve. The entire process was very rewarding, especially when looking back at the blog posts I created. Seeing where I started compared to where I have now showed me how much progress I’ve made. It made the experience feel even more meaningful and motivating. The challenges I faced during the six weeks included the weather and staying motivated. Some days the weather was terrible for driving, which meant I had to adjust my schedule and go on a different day to make sure I still got my workout in.

Motivation was another challenge especially on days when I was comfortable at home and didn’t feel like leaving the couch. At the beginning, my fitness level was almost non-existent, so I felt very tired and sore after workouts. It was tough physically, especially the next day. However, pushing through those challenges helped me build resilience and discipline. Over time, my body adjusted, and I started to feel stronger and more capable. Looking back, those obstacles were part of the growth process and made the experience even more rewarding.

Honestly, I don’t think I would change anything about this journey. Everything I experienced helped shape me into a better version of myself in such a short amount of time. Each challenge, setback, and success became part of the learning process. I believe that when you’re learning and facing challenges, the focus shouldn’t be on changing or avoiding them, but on overcoming them. Growth comes from pushing through discomfort and embracing the lessons along the way. This experience taught me resilience, discipline, and confidence, and for that, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Moving forward, I plan to continue going to kickboxing and stay consistent on my fitness journey. This experience showed me what I’m capable of when I commit to something, and I want to keep building on that progress. Overall, I think this was a great Genius Hour idea, and I’m proud of how everything turned out. It pushed me mentally and physically, helped me grow as a person, and gave me a new level of confidence. I’m excited to keep going and see where this journey takes me next.

Welcome to my third post !! This week has been busy, but we still went to the gym to achieve our goals!!! This week, we did a lot of skipping and basic pad work. Honestly, this week wasn't terrible, and I've been pretty consistent with going. I will say my body felt a lot better this time around.  This week, I learned how quickly the body adapts to a schedule, even to workouts. Like I said before, this week went a whole lot better. Some of the troubles I had this week were that I had a little cold, but it still didn't keep me from going. I would also say the snowstorms we have been having here have been crazy. I honestly can't wait for the snow to go away. I think for the next genius hour I would like to start matching my eating with my excercise an see how much that helps. Do you guys think eating better will help me ?. From here, we continue our journey.
Welcome to week one of my genius hour! I’d like to start by saying that the hardest part so far has been getting to the gym. The weather has been terrible, and honestly, it has destroyed my motivation (we're talking 10 to 0 real quick). It didn’t stop me; we still made it to our first session.  During this first week, I learned a lot about myself, mainly that I’m very out of shape. Although I survived the class, by the end of It I could barely move. Keeping up was a challenge, and my cardio was…. Not great. For the next class, I think the most important thing I need to focus on is consistency. Everything takes time, and it won’t always feel this hard, so I need to cut myself some slack. Like I said before, the hardest part is showing up and I did that.  One question I have for myself is, how long will it take before I notice any improvement in my cardio? I guess I’ll have to stick with it and find out. Overall, week one was humbling, sweaty, and slightly painful! But it’s only...
Welcome to my very first blog post! I’m so glad you’re here. This space is something I’ve been excited to create! I’m looking forward to sharing my ideas, and experience with you.  My guiding question is how will completing one hour of kickboxing for six consecutive weeks affect my personal well-being. I chose this topic because I wanted to try something outside mt comfort zone and learn something I never thought I would try. Through this project, I want to challenge myself and show others when you put your mind to something, you can accomplish anything you set out to do.   What I’m hoping to find out during these six weeks of kickboxing is how kickboxing affects my mental wellbeing and confidence, how my energy levels and motivation change over time, whether stepping outside my comfort zone helps me improve myself discipline, and if this is an activity I would want to continue long term.
